President Bhandari inaugurates Himalayan Travel Mart, 2017
June 3, Kathmandu : In a bid to give message to the world market that Nepal is the gateway to Himalayas, the Himalayan Travel Mart, 2017 kicked off in the capital on Friday. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the conference being organized with the theme of ‘Nepal Gateway to the Himalayas’. Addressing the conference, President Bhandari expressed the confidence that the mart would be useful to promote Nepal’s tourism in the world. Mother and son die, two taken ill from food poisoning
June 3, Beni (Myagdi) : A mother and son have died and two others have been taken ill from food poisoning in Chiswang of Mangala – 5 here in Myagdi. The father, mother and son were visiting the in-laws’ house in Chiswang when they fell unconscious after consuming Dhido – made of corn or millet flour with potato and eggplant. The condition of father and mother – in – law is reported to be critical. Tourism Ministry lends economic support for trek route
June 3, Phalebash (Parbat), : A trek route will be developed from Ratamata area to Karkineta Bazaar in Phalebash Municipality – 1. The route is being built with an aim to facilitate the domestic and external tourists that visit Karkineta, which is the old gateway to Dhaulagiri zone. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has extended one million rupees in support for building the trek route. Phalebash Municipality’s Chief Padampani Sharma laid the foundation stone for building the route. RSS

German Ambassador Meyer pays farewell call on Speaker Gharti
June 3, Kathmandu : German Ambassador to Nepal, Matthias Meyer, paid farewell call on Speaker Onsari Gharti at Legislature-Parliament Building at New Baneshwor on Friday. During the meeting, they discussed mutual relations and interest between Nepal and Germany. Saying the constitution was moving ahead towards its implementation after first-round of local level election, Speaker Gharti lauded the support provided by the government of Germany, said Speaker Gharti’s press advisor, Babin Sharma. Government grants Rs 3 million for FNJ general convention
June 3, Kathmandu : The government has decided to grant Rs 3 million to the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) – the umbrella organization of journalists across the country – for holding its upcoming general convention. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar yesterday took the decision to mark May 2 as the Information and Communication Technology Day. Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki said the Cabinet has decided to depute employees to the local levels where the elections took place in the first phase. PPA signed between NEA and Siuri Power Pvt. Ltd
June 3, Kathmandu, : Power purchase agreement has been signed between Nepal Electricity Authority and Siuri Power Pvt Ltd, promoter of Super Nyadi Hydropower Project, on Friday. Construction of 40.27 MW-hydropower power project, located at Bhulbhule of Lumjung district, has been initiated. At a programme organised at NEA, Executive Director, Kulman Ghising, and Chief of the hydropower project, Shailendra Guragain, signed the MoU. As per the agreement, the NEA would pay Rs 8.40 per unit power during summer season while Rs 4.80 during rainy season.
